The Guess-What-It-Is is what I do with my little iPod Shuffle. I load
it up with several hours worth of music (done at random by the computer)
and then go to the gym, set it on 'shuffle' mode. I just got back from
a stint at the gym and am dying to know what I heard. In some cases,
I knew precisely -- the first movement of the Emperor PC, the second
movement of the Beethoven Op. 59, No. 1 quartet -- but there were
several others I have only faint guesses. I love doing this. I'm right
about 50% of the time. Not bad considering that the music that gets put
on my iPod is sometimes very esoteric -- e.g., a clarinet quartet by
Rabl, a tone poem by Julius Roentgen.
