First of all, it is my opinion that great music should be able to stand on
its own....

Anyway, my suggestions:

Tchaikovsky--a glass of unboiled water
Rousell--a glass of boiling water
Britten--milk and cookies....
Mahler or Bruckner--forget the glass, bring a thermos
Wagner at the SFO--couldn't afford to drink anything
