The Chailly M5 is good, no doubt about it.  My benchmark for attention to
detail in this symphony is the part in the Scherzo where the horns roar at
each other from the mountaintop. Chailly is weak here.  Of the 5 M5's I've
owned at one point or another, the later Bernstein is tops at that moment,
as in most of the rest of the thing.  Hope I haven't spoiled the Chailly
for you,:-).  Really, it's an excellent performance and exceptional
recording.
