Oops, Mr.  Red Face here: what I heard as Callas' "Casta diva" in the
film "2046" turned out to be (upon reading the credits) a performance
by...  Angela Gheorghiu!  A strange and embarrassing "mis-hear"...:(

As to the earlier use of "Cosi" in "Sunday Bloody Sunday," yes, of
course [as well as in other films and (ugh!) commercials], but Nichols
does something meaningful and original with it in "Closer," rather than
being - as someone suggested - a copycat.
