It was sometime in the 1950's (I think the mid 50's) when Otto Klemperer
(ok, ok, I'm not absolutely certain it was Klemperer, but it definitely was
one of those German guys who couldn't distinguish his "v's" from his "w's")
was recording a symphony. The sound engineer asked the maestro to repeat
a certain section, as something had gone awry with a short section of the
recording. Klemperer's response was a withering, "Vhat kind of svindle is
zis?".
