According to a post in the Opera list-server, at the beginning of the,
um, "new" Batman movie ("Batman Begins"), a young Bruce Wayne is taken
to a performance of Boito's "Mefistofele" and is so frightened by the
Walpurgisnacht scene, he asks his parents to take him home forthwith.
Ooops...wrong move; his parents are killed in an alley near the opera
house. Fine. Then I read in the Wall Street Journal's Weekender section
on Friday that the opera Bruce witnessed was "Die Fledermaus", translation:
"The Bat". OK, so I don't expect to see this flick, but it's possible
some visitors to this site will. Would someone PLEASE note which opera
precedes Bruce Wayne's orphanization so I can have this puzzlement cleared
up?
