Simply put, my daughters marching band is using the Dvorak 9th next year.
As the new Drum Major she is eager to learn the music. I have Toscanini
on vinyl and Kertez on a tape. I haven't been able to locate the latter
with a quick search and I would appreciate your suggestions of recommended
performances. Lord knows I have heard lots of weak ones.

By the way, a recent thread concerned the transmission of a love of
classical music to younger generations. Last year the band used the
Moussorsky/Ravel(?) Pictures At an Exhibition for their performance. This
was the first time I have hard a classical music CD coming from her room.
And it happened quite a lot, but has stopped since marching band season
ended. She's unsure of the Dvorak from what she has heard so far. But
I have noticed for the past 4 or 5 months my Munch/La Mer being played at
the computer when she's using it. That music has found a spot, that much
must be genetic. I can't count the number of times I've heard her playing
it. By now she knows the music well, so I'm now waiting for a version
with Mravinsky and the Leningrad orchestra to arrive and see how much 'air
time' that one gets. From both of us.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
