I would recommend three performances:

Bruno Walter conducting the NY Philharmonic, Westminster Choir; Soloists:
Seefried, Tourel, Simoneau, Warfield CBS Masterworks Portrait CBS MPK
45556 (a bargin at mid to low price)

Herbert Von Karajan conducting the Vienna Philharmonic, Wiener Singverein;
Soloists: Tomowa-Sintow, Molinari, Cole, Burchuladze
DGG 419 610-2

Roger Norrington conducting the London Classical Players, The Schutz Choir
of London; Soloists: Argenta, Robbin, Ainsley, Miles
EMI CDC 7 54525 2

The Norrington performance is of the Requiem completed by Duncan Druce. It
is a very interesting, if off-beat, version of the work. Not the standard
version, however.
