Speaking of falling off podiums: I recall once hearing this story about
Pierre Monteux.  He passed out while conducting (in Vienna?) and fell into
the arms of the audience.  When he became conscious the Dr.  told him he
was all right.  So Monteux said, "What else was I to do, but finish the
concert."

And, he did.
