How else get into the subtleties of a piece of music? I become
uncomfortable when someone requests a recommendation for the 'best'
performance of a work. Get a good one and learn the music. For me, a
non-musician, differences in style, my mood, and performers can be better
appreciated after learning a performance.

Recently there was a discussion of the Brahms Sextets with comparisons of
the L'Archibudelli and Stuttgart Soloists recordings. I got them both.
Very different. Very good. Great listening.
