Considering Bach's Well Tempered Clavier and Shostakovich's Opus 87
Preludes and Fugues among the most inspired solo keyboard works in the
classical repertoire, I am anxiously awaiting a copy of the new Olli
Mustoen disc on Ondine that programs a selection of pieces from each
work based on the 'circle of fifths'.

Apparently, Volume 1 of this project is on RCA, but I had never heard
of it until now. As for Mustonen, he's an unusual artist who should be
most interesting on the new disc. I listen to his version of Beethoven's
Diabelli Variations quite often due to his novel approach to many of the
pieces - very lean and transparent.

The catalog number for the new Ondine disc is 1033 (2cds).
