Four Hands Piano Music of Charles Griffin to be Performed at Queens
College in New York City on December 11

American composer Charles Griffin's From the Faraway Nearby for piano
four-hands will be performed by pianists Stephanie Ho and Saar Ahuviaon
Thursday, December 11 - 7:30 PM at Lefrak Hall of the Aaron Copland
School of Music at Queens College CUNY, 65-30 Kissena Blvd. in Flushing,
New York.

Mr. Griffin's From the Faraway Nearby was inspired by paintings from
the American artist Georgia O'Keeffe. Originally written in six movements
for two guitars, the piece was recorded by the Goldspiel-Provost Classical
Guitar Duo. Since the composer rearranged the suite in 2006, it has
been performed by several duos, in Latvia, England and the U.S. Much
more about From the Faraway Nearby at http://charlesgriffin.net/archives/111.

The program, Sounds of New York, will also include Denise Broadhurst's
Stepping off the front porch..., Matt Van Brink's Initial Ascent (World
premiere), selections from Jay Anthony Gach's Rounds, Philippe Bodin's
Double Salt Variations and Richard Rodney Bennett's Lilliburlero Variations.
This performance is sponsored by Queens Council on the Arts and is
dedicated to the memory of Denise Broadhurst.

This concert is free and open to the public and will include a
complimentary wine reception. For more information, call 718-997-3800
or visit http://qcpages.qc.cuny.edu/music/.

The collaboration of pianists Stephanie Ho and Saar Ahuvia in both piano
four-hand and two-piano repertoire brings them to Baltimore's premier
Concerts at Second Presbyterian series, an orchestral debut with the
Czech Republic's Pilsen Radio Symphony Orchestra in Winterthur, Switzerland
with Bohuslav Martinu's Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, engagement
with Cultural Center of Chicago's Dame Myra Hess series, and regular
appearances at Baltimore's intimate yet cutting-edge An die Musik LIVE!
