Join us on Saturday August 30 2003, to celebrate Bruckner's 179th birthday
(five days ahead of schedule) in Carlsbad, California. This year marks
the fifth anniversary of the event and we have some special treats in
store.

As in the previous three years, we'll play the symphonies in an informal
setting, with intermissions between works and plenty of food/drinks to
keep us going. As in previous events, we offer a combination of rare
live recordings, such as Ernest Bour's marvelous performance of the 1st
symphony, and well-established commercial recordings, such as Jochum's
first BPO recording (mono). A pamphlet will notes on each recording
will be provided to attendees.

Here's the playlist:

B00: Skrowaczewski/Saarbruecken (Arte Nova, 2001)
B1: Bour/SWR (Sardana, 1976)
B0: Rozhdestvensky/USSR MoCSO (BMG/Melodiya, Japan, 1983)
B2: Stein/VPO (Decca Japan, 1973)
B3: Rosbaud/SWR (Arkadia, 1960)
B4: Kertesz/LSO (Testament, 1965)
B5: Sieghart/Linz Bruckner Orch (BOL, 1995)
B6: Roegner/Berlin RSO (Deutsche Schallplatten, Japan, 1980)
B7: Jochum/BPO (Tahra - the mono DG recording, 1952)
B8: D. Russell Davies/Bruckner Orch. Linz (BOL, 2002)
B9: Kubelik/BRSO (Orfeo, 1985)

When: Saturday, August 30, 2003
Where: 3267 Madison Street, Carlsbad, California (760-729-3280)
Starting time: 9 AM

Please feel free to bring your favorite food and drink (especially
Bruckner's favorite beverage) to share. Contributions will be taken
towards lunch and/or dinner. For directions and more information,
