I can't believe all this about Hahn's smiling but, for whatever it might
be worth to anyone, i can testify that she is generous with her time and
friendly and kind to children.  I witnessed her speaking individually
to a long line of extremely young violinists and others after a concert
once, while autographing, and she was nice to all of them-- to me too,
and I haven't been young for a long time.

A point more on topic.  Can soloists really command 40K a performance?
Maybe my father should have steered me in the direction of his father's
line of work--though it wasn't so lucrative in those days.
