Bill, I am keeper of a Jacqueline du Pre Web site (see below in my
signature), and the only modern cellist whose sound comes close (IMHO)
is Truls Mork (That's MORK where the O has a diagonal line through it).
He has some wonderful recordings on VIRGIN.
