Completely unknown also to me!

Tournemire was an *organ* composer.  He wrote extensively for that
instrument but also 8 symphonies (which are available from MarcoPolo and
Auvidis).  I only know his 3rd and 7th symphony.  This is quite typical
music from the turn of the century, a kind of melange of romantic and
impressionist with some modernist hints.  As organ composer he could create
some *huge* orchestral sounds with interesting instrumental interplay.
I would not say you *have* to know his music, but its not bad!
