Members of The Young Eight In Benefit Concert at George Washington Carver
Museum in Austin, Texas

New York, NY - Members of The Young Eight string octet will present a
very special fundraising concert on Sunday, November 19, 2006 - 6 PM at
the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, 1165 Angelina
Street in Austin, Texas.

Selections for this concert will include Haydn's Divertimento for String
Trio, Mozart's G Minor Piano Quartet, works by J.S. Bach, Rachmaninov's
Vocalise and selected spirituals for string trio.

Funds from this concert will benefit the scholarship program for students
attending The Young Eight's String Seminar Chamber Music Program in the
Summer of 2007 at UT Austin.

Special guest artists will be Dr. Robert Freeman, pianist and recently
retired dean of the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at
Austin and Daphne McCade, piano, member of the Ambassador's Board for
the George Washington Carver Museum. Dr. Freeman and Ms. McCade will
be performing pro bono to benefit the scholarship program.

Suggested donation for the November 19 concert is $7. For more information,

With violinists Quinton I.  Morris, Chala Yancy, Philip Payton and
Monica Davis, violists Amber Archibald and Tyrone Tidwell and cellists
Ryan Murphy and Tahirah Whittington, the ensemble has established itself
as one of the next generation's most dynamic and energetic chamber groups,
presenting performances in New York City, Philadelphia, Los Angeles,
Seattle, and Austin.  Founded in 2002 at the North Carolina School of
the Arts, this critically acclaimed African-American octet is dedicated
to exposing various communities to the arts through classical music and
has been recognized for their dedication to children, music and education.
