Robert Fletcher inquires:
>Mr. Fennell must be around 80, true or not? Is he still conducting? Who
>has a complete listing of his recordings with both the Cleveland Winds and
>the Eastman School of Music and any other groups? As for Mr. Hunsburger,
>what has he recorded and with whom? Does he do alot of recording?
Coincidentally, I was listening last night to an original pressing
of British Band Classics II, one of the true gems of Fennell's Eastman
Wind Ensemble recordings for Mercury (with Hammersmith, Crown Imperial,
Jacob's William Byrd Suite). Of late, the ageless Fennell has been making
recordings with The Dallas Wind Symphony for Reference Recordings -- 5 or
6 at least. Most recent, I think, is "Marches I've Missed" in 1998; he was
84 at the time. A few years ago he issued a number of band recordings on
his own label, ELF.
Last I saw of Hunsberger on record was an EWE concert recordng on Sony in
1990, "Live in Osaka". Don't know where to locate a discography of either.
