Instinct was always stronger in d`Albert than being conscious,
his technique a gift from nature which gave him his amazing
piano fingers. And his head only dictated things great,
gigantic, massive, dramatic. dAlbert actually always played
unlyrically, unsentimentally, like one who wanted to shake
off his chains, who seemed to rebel against world and fate.

     Julius Korngold, 1932
