Richard Pennycuick writes concerning new Naxos releases:

>Shostakovich's Preludes and Fugues Op 87 (Konstantin Scherbakov).

This is good news. If memory serves, this Naxos set will be the
first one of the Shostakovich Op 87 in many years released at bargain
or super-bargain prices and will hopefully expand his piano repertoire to
additional Shostakovich fans. As it happens, in February 99, list member
Derek Lim alerted us that Scherbakov was recording Op 87. Time sure does
fly. Scherbakov sounds familiar; does anyone have an opinion of his
artistry?

The one set of Op 87 that I never obtained is on the Dynamic label.
Have any list members heard this set? The pianist is Boris Petrushansky.
