Kentucky Swale for String Orchestra by Beth Anderson To Be Performed
at IAWM Conference in Beijing, China on April 20

New York, NY - American composer Beth Anderson's Kentucky Swale for
string orchestra will be performed on Sunday, April 20 - 7:30 PM by the
Chinese National Orchestra at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing,
China as part of the 2008 Beijing International Congress of Women in
Music. This is presented by The International Alliance for Women in
Music (IAWM).

Kentucky Swale is part of Ms. Anderson's Three Swales for string
orchestra. The other two movements are Blue Bell Swale and March Swale.
The complete 21-minute work was premiered in Antwerp, Belgium by the
Collegium Musicum Carinthia, conducted by Alexei Kornienko at the Festival
of Flanders and has also been performed in the United States and Ukraine.

More about the Congress and IAWM at http://www.iawm.org/. For an

Beth Anderson's music has been described as having 'a refreshing
simplicity without naivete' and as -'deeply felt, direct, and yes,
beautiful' and 'charming and deeply felt to the point of romanticism.'
Her latest CDs are violinist Aleksandra Maslovaric and pianist Tania
Fleischer performing Beth's Belgian Tango and Tales #1 & #3 and a CD
of chamber music for smaller ensembles, Quilt Music (Albany Records).
Her latest newsletter is at

is curator and host of Greenwich House Arts' Women's Work series -

Ms. Anderson has worked with New York video artist Dmitriy Khavin to
create two new videos based on her beautiful Pennyroyal Swale for string
quartet. Mr. Khavin matched the music to the magnificent Kentucky
landscapes and other photos of James Archambeault. To view the videos,
