I think you should go for Dohnanyi and the Cleveland.  It is by all means
excellent, and though it has some older competitors, it is the best modern
recording around.  I didn't buy it myself, but the only reason was that I
already have so many Mahler recordings - Akima can surely tell - so I don't
want to take the risk to exhaust myself.  Highly recommended!
