Chamber Music of Barbara Harbach to be Performed at Project 21
Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 27 and 28

Chamber music of Barbara Harbach will be presented at the Project 21
-
Music for the 21st Century Conference this coming weekend.  Her Rhapsody
Ritmico for Brass Quintet will be performed by the Blackwelder Brass at
the Large Rehearsal Hall on Friday, February 27 - 2 PM and her Freeing
the Caged Bird will be performed by the OCU Graduate Quintet on Saturday,
February 28 - 4 PM at the Medium Rehearsal Hall, both located in the
Wanda L.  Bass School of Music on the campus of Oklahoma City University,
2501 N Blackwelder in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Rhapsody Ritmico has been recorded for Music of Barbara Harbach, Volume
2 - Chamber Music on the MSR label - http://www.msrcd.com/1253/1253.html.
Freeing the Caged Bird is a four-movement tribute inspired by the literary
works of four native St.  Louis women, Maya Angelou, Sara Teasdale, Kate
Chopin and Emily Hahn, who struggled to give voice to their creativity.

As a composer, Barbara Harbach has a large catalog of works,
including symphonies, works for chamber ensemble, string orchestra,
organ, harpsichord, musicals, choral anthems, film scores, modern
ballets, and many arrangements for brass and organ of various Baroque
works.  She is also involved in the research, editing and publication
of manuscripts of eighteenth-century keyboard composers as well as
historical and contemporary women composers.  Her works are available
