Checking the URL Laurence provides above reminded me that Honegger
composed the score for the 1927 silent French movie "Napoleon," of
which unfortunately I have only a VHS copy of the 1981 "tinted and toned"
version, with music by Carmine Coppola. Now that I see some of Honegger's
score is available on CD, it would be interesting to play the CD along with
the muted video. Does anyone know if a version of the film already exists
with Honegger's score?

In the 1930s Honegger composed music for both the French and American
film versions of "Crime and Punishment." Each film had separate casts,
directors, writers, photographers, etc. Does anyone know if the scores
are virtually identical, or if there is new music in the American version,
which I believe was filmed a year after the first?
