Quintet of the Americas In Two New York Metro Area Concerts - April 13
at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville and April 14 at Salvation Army
Center in Jackson Heights, Queens

New York, NY - The Quintet of the Americas will be performing two New
York metro area concerts on the following dates and at the following
locations

Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 8 PM - The Quintet will be in concert at
Reisinger Hall at Sarah Lawrence College, 1 Mead Way, Bronxville, New York.

This concert, titled "Winding It," will feature The Quintet of the
Americas performing Jon Deak's Bremen Town Musicians (1985), Robert
Paterson's Wind Quintet (2004), Laura Kaminsky's Cadenza Variations for
Woodwind Quintet (2004) and Elliott Schwartz' RowsGarden (1993).

Tickets for this concert are $10 for regular admission, $8 for senior
citizens (55+) and students from other institutions with a current ID -

Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 7:30 PM - The Latin American Cultural Center
Of Queens, Inc., will present the Quintet in a special concert of
American and Colombian music at The Salvation Army Center, 86-07  35th
Avenue in Jackson Heights, Queens.

This concert will again feature The Quintet of the Americas performing
Jon Deak's Bremen Town Musicians (1985), Robert Paterson's Wind Quintet
(2004) and Dr.  Carl MaultsBy's Journey for woodwind quintet and African
and Latin percussion (2004).  Other works on the program include music
by Colombian composers Jorge Olaya Munoz, Julio Florez and Alberto
Castilla, the last two in arrangements by Edmund Cionek.  Special guests
for this concert will be composers Robert Paterson and Dr.  Carl MaultsBy,
who will both discuss their music.

This concert is free and open to the public. For more information about

The Quintet of the Americas, consisting of flutist Sato Moughalian,
oboist Matt Sullivan, clarinetist Edward Gilmore, hornist Barbara Oldham
and bassoonist Laura Koepke, was formed in Bogota, Colombia in 1976 by
U.S.  citizens who were principal wind players in the Colombian National
Orchestra.  The group relocated to New York City in 1979 and has since
enjoyed an international career that has taken them to concert halls
throughout the Americas, the Caribbean Asia, including annual performances
at Manhattan's Americas Society since 1982.  Two time recipients of
ASCAP-Chamber Music America Awards for Adventuresome Programming, the
Quintet's repertoire represents works from composers with a wide-range
of aesthetic viewpoints.  They have recorded for CRI, Newport Classics,
MMC and XLNT.  Their latest CDs are Karel Husa: Recollections on New
World and Dancing in Colombia on the MSR label.  The Quintet has been a
past recipient of the CMA Commissioning Award in for a commission by
David Chaitkin and a three-year Residency Award for work in Chicago.
They are in residence in The Department of Music and Performing Arts in
