Maazel's 1, 4, and 7 continue to stun me.  The other four symphonies come
off horribly though, especially 6.  But at the price Maazel's well worth
it for those three high points.  From the reviews I suspect his later
Pittsburgh recording of 3 may have improved on the earlier one.  Meanwhile,
as one who can never resist adding to his Sibelius library, I'm probably
going to take your advice and get the Barbirolli and the Sanderling.  And
the recent Beecham BBC Legends issue-- damn that one looks good.
