I can't connect with this premise of "higher minded" and "self discipline".
I used to be a hard rock person, now I'm a classical music person - my mind
was just as high then as now.  My wife much prefers Bob Seeger and Willie
Nelson, and her mind is at a much higher level than mine (which is usually
in the gutter).

Personally, these "elitist" comments do classical music lovers no favors at
all.  We are simply individuals who love/prefer a certain type of music -
we are no better or worse than anyone else for it.
