Well put, sir.  That is -exactly- what this country needs.  I am forever
reading about how all the great old American Big Boys (Koussevitzky,
Stokowski, Ormandy, Bernstein, &c.) were huge proponents of new music,
living composers, and expanding the repertoire as well as the public's
conciousness, commissioning pieces, and all that.

Someone was lamenting yesterday that we never get to hear a recent
American symphony.  This is ridiculous!  There is no reason for it!  We
need an adventerous proponent of new music that's not afraid to program it
at concerts.  People -will- come to see it.  If they can afford tickets...

Sigh.
