The very best criticism IS creative, and can be literary, enlightening,
entertaining and of cultural significance.  Why jump up and down on the
whole profession just because you don't like a few (unnamed) critics? It
doesn't make sense to me.  Could you be subscribing to the wrong papers
and magazines?
