There might be many subjective differences between these two conductors.
Certainly, one objective difference is that Rattle made a world-class
orchestra out of something much less, while Ozawa inherited a world-class
orchestra and only managed to diminish its standing.  I would think that
"selecting personnel" would place great priority on this matter.
