I also recommend Olsons Books and Records for CDs. There's a store at
Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria, Clarendon in Arlington
and Bethesda. They have the Phillips Greatest Pianists series on sale
for $18.99 through the 31st. Also Tower on 21st and Pennsylvanis Avenue
near George Washington University has a big selection of CDs and some
interesting classical cut-outs. If you buy second hand LPs, Second Story
Books on 20th and P, off Dupont Circle sometimes has a good selection.
Britten's War Requiem is being performed at the Washington National
Cathedral on Oct. 29 with the excellent Cathedral Choral Society and
Hakan Hagegard as one of the solists. Also Handel's Israel in Egypt at
The Kennedy Center on the 29th. The Washington Opera is doing Rigoletto
at the Kennedy Center on the 28th and El Cid with Domingo on the 30th,
but that, I believe, is sold out. Have a great visit!
