Good as the Rattle 'King Roger' is, I still think there is much to be said
for the 1965 recording with Mierzejewski conducting the Choir and Orchestra
of the National Opera House, Warsaw (Teatr Wielki) - Olympia OCD 303. It
is very well performed and sung and is a good deal more atmospheric than
Rattle's. The Naxos and Koch Schwann recordings are not in the same
league.
