I must agree with Mr. Schwartz on his recommendation of the two recordings
of the Korngold symphony. I've loved the work ever since I bought the
Kempe LP back in the '70s.

To complicate matters, there is a third recommendable recording of this:
the Sir Edward Downes/BBC Phil recording on Chandos. This the most
sumptuously played and recorded performance I know of the 5 recordings
that i've heard.

To top if off, the coupling is the luscious Abschiedslider with Linda
Finnie. This work is one I would love to hear a berlin phil or
philadelphia O do with say Anne Sophie von Otter. This work would make
a great disc mate to the Zemlimsky Maeterlinck Lieder.

Aloha and Mahalo,

Eric Nagamine
