Sunday's NY Times had a very interesting article on Miles Davis by Martha
Bayles.  In part I'm sending this link to the list because I can't find
Steve Schwartz' email address.  But it really should be of interest to
anyone with an interest in the music of the twentieth century or in the
effort of an artist to combine:  "high musical art, with commercial success
with an identity as an African American." {Or any ethnic, national or
cultural identity, viz Shostakovich, etc.]
