Having since listened to his Bach cello suites, I agree whole-heartedly.
What a large variety of shadings the man brings to the music! I still prefer
Casals's more rugged approach in some of the fast movements, where in
comparison I sometimes find Bijsma a bit too streamlined. But an outstanding
complementing version nevertheless.
