Biodynamic beekeeping and organic farming are direct descendants of the Rudolph Steiner School of tomfoolery. His very name is a red flag, which flies over such disparate institutions as the Pfeiffer Center, Waldorf Schools, the film "Queen of the Sun", etc. Ehrenfried Pfeiffer acknowledged the "wisdom" of Rudolf Steiner as the first-mover of the biodynamic enterprise.

While many of ideas seem harmless enough, Steiner was anti-vaccination and there have been serious outbreaks of preventable disease at Waldorf schools in Germany and California. Steiner believed that vaccination "interferes with karmic development and the cycles of reincarnation".

Rudolf Steiner proposed that mistletoe could cure cancer based on the observation that the plant was a parasite which eventually killed its host, so paralleling the progression of cancer. Steiner believed the plant had to be harvested at the right time, as its medical potential was influenced by the position of the sun, moon and planets.

In his first lecture, Steiner discussed cosmic influences on the nature of bees. He showed how the various types of bees that make up a colony are a result of mediating influences from the Sun and other cosmic forces through the hexagonal shape of the comb cell, as well as variations in the duration of their exposure to such influences as the bees develop from egg to full maturity.

He also showed how such influences affect other aspects of a bee colony, such as swarming. Steiner focused on the similarities between the bee colony and the human body to better understand the functioning of a bee colony. After explaining the internal characteristics of a bee colony, he examined the relationship between bees and plant life to show how there is evidence in nature of a kind of wisdom.

Steiner recommended:

• Position the hive with respect to the Sun and planetary influences and the Earth’s magnetic fields. Additional research is needed on the effects of planetary influences on the colony, particularly those of the Sun and Venus; as Steiner pointed out, bees are Sun animals and are influenced strongly by Venus.
