Wait tried and true agricultural practices?  Are we talking about the same
countries that have a long history subsistence farming and famine and
death?  I'm not saying there aren't important sustainable heritage crops
adapted to local conditions etc that shouldn't still be grown, but
modernization of AG, and shipping etc. in general leads to a more stable
food supply.  That doesn't mean just monocultures and mechanization, but
things like drip irrigation, proper crop rotation etc.  The top bar hives
suggested would be part of modern ag in many areas for that matter.

Trying the same thing (traditional ag) expecting different results?  Just
because it's been done the same way for a long time doesn't mean it's the
best.
