I'm right at the western end of the Niagara Peninsula /Region of Niagara and
Black Locust is in abundance just above Lake Ontario in the Stoney Creek
escarpment area and from here east towards Fonthill . I came across a
stand last year in full blossom and established with the owner another
beeyard. In that particular area they didn't blossom as long but the bees
brought lots in and interestingly in three hives they filled five deep
frames in the middle of the supers surrounded by very light, sweeter honey.
My other yards also yielded the same and there also the bees put it right in
the middle - five frames each. The acidity in one yard was stonger changing
the flavour slightly and the moisture was lower at 15.5 as compared to 17.5
