Google this subject heading and I think you will find the study Randy was referring to.
It is common knowledge in the landscape trade that an imidicloprid treatment may require a follow up with a miticide or dormant oil.
To the best of my knowledge, no one has studied the effect of imidicloprid on Varroa.
