Your post has me thinking perhaps it would be safer to use a cage.  I’m open to comments from others on the list who may have a preferred method for introducing virgins.

i have had good success using the ammonium nitrate method I learned from Juanse. Check the archives. It's a one stop method that you do once and then leave the nuc alone for 3 weeks. I got about 80 - 85% with this method.
