Actually, many of us moderate-depth thinkers also ponder!

Any single GMO crop will have a relatively short half life, since the pests
will soon evolve resistance, but the patented crop cannot.  It won't be long
until Roundup Ready crops and Bt transgenic crops are useless, since the
bugs and weeds have already demonstrated that they are evolving resistance.

So, short term, Bt GMO crops may help to decrease pesticide use, but long
term, when they are planted wholesale as they are now, they will have the
unfortunate effect of making the previously effective *organic* Bt spore
treatment useless, much to the detriment of organic farmers.

The wholesale planting of Roundup Ready crops simply spells the imminent
death of glyphosate as an effective herbicide, as it is already failing with
several weeds.
