I'd like to thank all those who are contributing to this discussion.  I see 
we are getting a little deeper into the question than most discussions. 
This question is very subtle and the obvious assumptions and conclusions do 
not necessarily hold.

I expect to post more on this very significant topic, but am currently 
travelling and to do a good job on this takes time and concentration, so 
please keep this discussion going, with facts and respected opinions about 
the mechanisms of infection, etc.  I suspect that if we keep digging we may 
be surprised at what we discover.
