Hello all,

Does anyone recognize the design of this old bee-line box?

If so, can you explain how it works?

Specifically: Why is the top brass fitting so detailed? How are bees coaxed into the box? Why are there two holes in the upper chamber (one with a square fitting inside, one without, see pics)?

Any insights or ideas into the detailed workings of this beautiful old antique would be MOST welcome!
