I manage a bee supply shop for a guy who has had bees 80 years, he is 92
now. He used to have 250 hives now he has 3, age has slowed him down a bit.
He eats more honey than any one I know sometimes almost 6 pounds a week in
the winter, his favorite drink warm water and honey. Two different times he
has had over 150 stings at once with no ill effect, many years ago a stack
of hives fell over and bees went up his pants and he stayed in the middle
of the mess til they where picked up. These days he can not be in the yard
alone because he takes chances last summer he went out to a yard on a
really hot day, in a very bad mood, trying to put supers on hives alone
with no protection and got nailed. He was wearing only a light weight
tee-shirt and happen to have a black leather belt on and the bees went for
just above the belt. He was stung around the abdomen hundreds of times. I
was furious with him it was dangerous and stupid plus they were my hives.
Any way besides being old and crotchety he is very good health. He stings
himself regularly to keep arthritis at bay, his hands will really get
swollen but putting stings on keeps them looking normal and pain free.

He worked with Charles Mraz, who lived to 94, stinging people with MS and
other health issues when Charles was still alive. He some times was there
when Charles was treating Pat Wagner who has written a book on her
experience with MS and bee venom. People still come to him for stings and
swear their arthritis is better and a lot of times their doctors agree. Then
there was an old guy up here who kept bees for ever who lived to be 114,
Bill T. may remember him.
