> So why would we (currently in the EU) want to allow other countries to 'exploit' our market?

The wording was not mine, I was quoting. I probably would not have used the word exploit, even though it is not intrinsically negative. As: "exploit, verb, make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource)." But seriously, buying products from other countries is one way we can help improve their standard of living. I don't think importing honey from Africa would hurt European beekeepers. EU & UK import plenty of things already. Spread the money around buy spending it.
