Hi Jeff,

You asked: Should I give up on Zareba and get a DC powered "fencer" by made
by somebody else?

Yes, been down the Zareba solar fence charger route and it's a dead end. A
better plan: this time get a 12 VDC version, TSC also stocks those. Obtain
a 12 V deep cycle marine battery to power it. Harbor Freight Tools has a 5
watt solar panel, Item #41144,
http://www.harborfreight.com/5-watt-solar-battery-charger-41144.html, use it
to keep the battery charged. Mine has been pumping out jolts for 4 years
now.
