>>Contrast this to an area which I recently visited, in which the flow is so
intense for a few weeks that 600 hives can be placed in a single location,
yet still make truckloads of honey!

Is this an agricultural area, Randy?

In my area (north-eastern US) of suburbia, a lot of beekeepers say 5 colonies per yard location will/can make good honey. 10 colonies will not yield extra honey from a yard.
