Clearly a good use - if you've got some good images, could you provide?  We let others chase the swarms, so haven't focused on this - know it works, but just haven't been in the right place at the right time.

We used Thermal Imaging prior to doing a residential cutout here in Calgary a few years back.

The information gained saved us from doing unnecessary demolition, 
and showed where the colony had unexpectedly grown into another cavity.

I wouldn't attempt another without doing imaging first.
