According to the Merck Index 11th Ed. Monograph 7139, liquid paraffin has
several synonyms: Liquid Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, White Mineral Oil, Paraffin
Oil. It is a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons from petroleum. It is described
as a colorless, oily liquid; practically tasteless and odorless even when
warmed. Density of the "light liquid" is given as .83-.860, the "heavy" as
.875-.905. I hope this helps answer any questions on this issue. Mihaly
S Ligmond. ([log in to unmask])
