'In Tunis the black Punic Bees are found, good fighters, bad  propolisers, 
using a watery capping and wintering badly'  E B Wedmore, A  Manual of 
Beekeeping, 1946 ed. His remarks are so similar to Pellett's that he  could 
easily have used him as a source.
